Why Aluminum Free Deodorant Is Good

Why Aluminum Free Deodorant Is Good

By Lisa Snyder

The human body naturally eliminates chemicals in the form of toxins through the skin. These toxins result into a natural odor on the body, which can be very unpleasant in some cases. To prevent such odors, people often opt to use deodorants. People choose a specific deodorant and stick with it for the rest of their lives, always wearing wherever they go. For that reason, it is important to choose a product that lasts for a long time and still remains toxin free.

When considering products that are toxin free, one category of deodorants ring a bell in the mind of most people. These are the aluminum free deodorant categories. There are many reasons and claims why avoiding deodorants that contain aluminium should be avoided. One of the reasons is that they cause cancer, although there is still no evidence to confirm that claim.

However, many reasons still exist for avoiding these products and adopting natural alternatives in their place. First, aluminium-based products produce a sweet smell, which only masks the body odor. This is contrasted from the working mechanism of natural alternatives which contain baking soda. Baking soda is a better solution for body odor management because it prevents odor-causing bacteria from forming. Thus, they provide a better option for managing odor.

Although the link between cancer and aluminium currently does not have any evidence to support it, there exists a correlation between high aluminium diseases and Alzheimer disease. This has the implication that high concentration of aluminium may also cause Alzheimer disease. As such, avoiding consuming aluminium through deodorants is highly advisable to avoid running the risk of suffering from Alzheimer disease. Alzheimer disease affects many young people worldwide.

It is important to avoid aluminum-containing deodorants especially when one is pregnant. These deodorants introduce toxins into the body and just like drinking and smoking are discouraged while pregnant, application of aluminium deodorants should also be avoided. This is because what goes into the system of the mother also goes into the body of the child. Passing such a heavy metal like aluminium to the unborn child may have negative consequences.

The health of skin is improved by the use of natural deodorants. When applied for a long time, commercial deodorants result into wear and tear of the skin. This causes the skin to appear dry and chaffed. Similarly, chemical deodorants contain parabens, estrogenics, as part of their ingredients. Estrogens are absorbed through the skin surface and may cause hormonal imbalance within the body.

Some people have sensitive skins which may not do well with metal additives in deodorants. Application of these metals may result in heavy lumps, hives, and rashes among other effects. Chemical deodorants particularly cause adverse reaction. In contrast, natural products rarely cause adverse reactions in the skin when applied.

Lastly, natural deodorant products may be slightly cheaper compared to their chemical counterparts. That makes them even more worthwhile to consider purchasing. They can be bought from stores that stock related products. The list of ingredients is always written on the container.
