For years many people have been using tanning beds and exposing themselves to the harmful effects of ultra violet rays. As we all know, this can result in some detrimental side effects concerning our health. A better alternative for achieving that sun kissed look is to use the spray tan which is a much safer way to create that outdoor, healthy look.
Many people have elected to get their even spray tan in a tanning booth that sprays a special formula that stains the skin. When you step inside the booth you will see a series of spray tan spray nozzles. These will emit a special mist that covers both the front and back of the body in less that one minute. It is important to follow the pre-tan preparations to ensure that the spray tan stain is applied in a uniform manner but this also takes just a few minutes.
First and foremost, you need to exfoliate your skin. Dry patches of skin will not hold the tan for long so that once the skin falls off, there will be a light colored area. Use a good exfoliant and spend some time scrubbing your face and those extra dry areas such as the knees and elbows.
A shower cap needs to be worn to keep the spray out of your hair. Push the cap off the ears and distanced from the hairline so that the tanning formula will blend in naturally as well in the hairline area. A barrier gel needs to be applied between the fingers, on the finger nails, and one the palms and soles to avoid getting those areas either overly tanned or tanned at all. Palms and soles have less pigment and typically don't tan.
Place a pair of eye glasses on for eye protection from the spray tan formula as well as plugs for the nostrils. Once you close the door to the booth there will be audio instructions that will clearly explain where to stand and how to press the right button to start the spray tan treatment. Be sure to keep the eye glasses on.
A fine mist of spray tan stain will be discharged from the nozzles that lasts about fifteen seconds. It will feel cool to the skin. Be sure that you keep your arms lifted up so that the mist will also reach the side of the torso. Once the spray shuts off then turn around and repeat the process on the back but this time keeping the arms in the front of the body with the palms facing inward.
The spraying procedure again will stop after fifteen seconds. You can step out of the booth, remove the goggles and nose plug, and wipe off any residual spray tan formula with a towel. Loose clothing is recommended to ensure that the spray tan is not rubbed off while it is curing for another seven hours.
Spray tan in a booth is much safer than using the tanning beds. It is not only a healthier alternative but it is also less expensive and quicker to achieve that desired sun kissed look. You can rest assured that the spray tan technique is one that you will return to time again when you need that quick pick me up.
